The Asha’s 19th Annual Day was celebrated yet again with great fervour and enthusiasm by Asha’s long terms supporters in the month of September at Jamieson Ranch Winery in Napa California.
It was a wonderful evening, organized by Rita Bresee, daughter of Kailash Chaudhary who has been hosting Asha’s Annual Day event for the past 19 years.
The Honoured Guests were Congressman Mike Thompson, Rep of Napa, and his wife Jan Thompson both of whom have been supporting the event for all these 17 years with their presence and their generosity.
Asha college student Sandeep who accompanied Dr Kiran for the first time to US, told his moving story to an audience of over 120 people, who listened to his journey in amazement.
The fundraiser also saw old and new asha supporters gather together for a silent auction followed by dinner. The sumptuous Indian dinner was provided pro bono by very generous Sardar Jeet Bhangroo .
After the Napa event, Dr Kiran and Sandeep proceeded to Sacramento, where Drs Nalini and Praveen Prasad had organized a fundraising event at their beautiful home and garden. There were wonderful group of supporters who turned up to express solidarity with the vision and mission of Asha through their generosity and encouragement.
Sandeep made the entire global Asha family proud, all the young people in the slums proud, their families proud, and the people of India proud, as he took the Californians through his journey.
Heartfelt thanks to Congressman Mike Thompson and Jan Thompson, Kailash and Gisela Chaudhary, Rita Bresee and family, Arwin Chaudhary, Rohit and Mridula Patel, Drs Nalini and Praveen Prasad, and the wonderful supporters all over California for having walked with us on the Asha journey over the past two decades. Every member of the Asha slum communities will remain grateful to you for all times to come.
