A Group of Students and Teachers from American Embassy School visits an Asha slum

On 29th February, a group of 8th grade students accompanied by three teachers from the American Embassy School visited the Asha centre in Kakaji slum colony. This being the first encounter with slum life for most of the students, they were amazed at the challenges people face in their day to day life.

While at Kalkaji, the students also got an opportunity to interact with the members of Asha’s children’s group and discuss the work they do as members of the group and the difference it has brought about in their lives. The bal mandal children also talked about their desire to complete school and then go for higher education. Being of similar age groups, the students enjoyed this interaction and were very keen to know more about the life of children from the slums.
