Asha welcomes volunteer teams from the UK

In February, Asha welcomed two teams of volunteers from the UK to work with the Asha Community.

The first team, from City Life Church, Southampton, UK led by long-time Asha supporter Dan Pooley worked at Jeevan Nagar slum colony for one week. They conducted art workshops with the kids and spend time interacting with the community.

The second team, comprising eight members from Global Generation Church led by Mike Andrea, worked at Anna Nagar slum colony. They painted the newly refurbished Asha centre and also spent time with youth from the slum getting to know more about their day-to-day lives.

The community, especially the students, loved this opportunity to interact with someone who spoke English as the first language, while many people from the teams admitted that spending so much time in the slums made them realise that they need to be more grateful for what has been given to them.

Both Dan Pooley and Mike Andrea have been ardent supporters of Asha for the past many years and have regularly led teams to work in the slums. By just contributing their time and talents, they have helped us bring about radical changes in Delhi slums. Their enthusiasm and spirit of working for others is deeply inspiring.
