Australian Cricketer Ryan Carters visits Asha

Australian Cricketer Ryan Carters visits Asha

It was wonderful to have Australian Cricketer, Ryan Carters with us at the Asha Office. As well as being an ace cricketer, Ryan has been associated with many philanthropic initiatives in India. “When you open your eyes, you see so much inequality – it is not possible to not be moved by it. I personally feel education is the tool that can eliminate poverty and inequality,” he shared during his interaction with the Asha Team.

During his visit to our centre at Mayapuri slum colony, Ryan had an extremely congenial interaction with the students and Community Health Volunteers (CHVs). They talked about the challenges they have faced in their lives, and how Asha had helped them throughout to become ‘change-makers’ in their own community.

Ryan’s innovative fundraising campaign – Batting for Change – combines the excitement of ‪T20cricket in Australia with a commitment to supporting the education of economically disadvantaged young people in developing cricket-playing nations.

Here is a short video where Ryan talks about his experience at Asha.
