California supporters organise an Asha Fundraiser
It all began 14 years ago when Kailash Chaudhary and his wife Gisela decided to hold the first fundraiser for Asha at the request of Congressman Mike Thompson and his wife Jan. Since then, these remarkable individuals have been hosting an Asha fundraiser every year, and have contributed greatly to support Asha programmes over the years.
On 8th November 2014, supporters in California held the 14th annual Asha Fundraiser at the beautiful Hall Winery in Napa Valley. Organised with a view to spread awareness and raise funds for the work of Asha, the event was attended by long time supporters of Asha along with many new friends.
In her address, Dr Kiran talked about Asha’s journey over the past 26 years. Renowned radio host Jeff Schectman interviewed her about Asha’s latest developments and its vision for the future. The guests were excited as she shared updates on the recent developments, especially the Asha Student Ambassador and the Asha Job Match programmes.
Congressman Mike Thompson, who was unable to attend the event this year, delivered an enthusiastic and heart-warming message via video. Also speaking at the event was Jeniffer Hall, daughter of Craig Hall, who recounted the beautiful time she had in one of our communities when she visited last year. Later, the event saw a beautiful Indian classical music performance by celebrated Sarod player Alam Khan.
Asha would like to extend its sincere thanks to Lana Stanley, Jim and Sandy Jones, Kailash and Gisela Chaudhary, Rohit Patel, Craig and Kathryn Hall and Congressman Mike Thompson and Mrs Janet Thompson for their time and efforts for organising this event. We would also like to thank all the supporters, attendees and donors for making the day a huge success.
