Dr Kiran delivers a lecture on “Eradication of Poverty, Illiteracy and Disease in Urban Areas”

On 24th February 2014 Dr Kiran Martin delivered a lecture on ‘Eradication of Poverty, Illiteracy and Disease in Urban Areas’ in a programme organized by Foundation for Peace, Harmony and Good Governance (FGG) at India Habitat Centre. The programme was hosted by Mr. D.R. Kaarthikeyan, President of Foundation for Peace, Harmony and Good Governance and Former Director, Central Bureau of Investigation.

She talked about the living conditions in the slum and how Asha has been working for its improvement over the past few months. The audience was shocked to learn about the reality of slum life and congratulated Dr Kiran on Asha’s achievements. They were particularly impressed to note how Asha has been able to create a sustainable model of development by empowering slum communities to become partners in the developmental work. The lecture was followed by a round of discussion.
