Dr Kiran invited Asha friends and volunteers from across Delhi to join her for a musical evening on Sunday 7th December. Guests of honour were the Deputy High Commissioner of Australia, Bernard Philip, and his wife Genevieve Clune.
After a relaxed meet and greet, Dr Kiran thanked Bernard and Genevieve for their long-standing support of Asha and greeted them in true Indian tradition by presenting each of them with a scarf. She similarly welcomed Guru Vinod Kumar, Director and Principal of the Bhaatkhande Sangit Vidyalaya and her music teacher. Dr Kiran also expressed her gratitude to the Asha staff and other supporters present, who had helped Asha by hosting interns, volunteering their time or offering free medical consultation and treatment.
Dr Kiran (vocals) and Mr Kumar (vocals and harmonium), joined by a flautist and a tabla-player, sang a number of popular Bollywood songs from the 1960s. They also captivated the audience with their rendition of ghazals (Urdu love poems set to music), including some composed by Mr Kumar himself. The audience were delighted and called on Dr Kiran for an encore!
Following the concert, she laid on a delicious buffet and there was plenty of happy talk about Asha and the concert.
