Self-defence training at Asha slums

The Women’s Cell of Nanakpura Police station has been conducting self-defence trainings for girls and women from Asha communities. During the course of 10 sessions, the community will be trained for basic self-defence tricks. Over 60 women and girls in age group of 13 to 50 years are attending the workshop daily.

Earlier this year nearly 100 women from Kanak Durga, Kusumpur Pahari, Ekta Vihar and Dr Ambedkar slum colony came together to celebrate Women’s Day and invited the SHO of Crime Against Women’s Cell – Ms Alka Azad. Ms Azad appreciated the women’s efforts towards gender equality and motivated them to join self-defence trainings organised by their department. The women and girls from Asha communities expressed keen interest and enrolled for the training immediately.
