Teams from Methodist College and St Stephen’s Church visit Asha

Teams from Methodist College and St Stephen’s Church visit Asha

During the last two weeks, Asha was glad to welcome once again teams from Methodist College Belfast and St Stephen’s Church, Twickenham. Both the teams visit Asha on a regular basis to work in the slums.

The Methody team, as usual worked at our centre at Kalkaji slum colony and St Stephen’s team was working at our Zakhira slum colony centre. The teams painted the children’s resource centres, the computer rooms and Bal Mandal meeting rooms with fun and colourful murals. The rooms look extremely beautiful and the children really loved them.

The teams organised English conversation workshops with the college and high school students and art and craft for the younger children from the slums. The children always enjoy these sessions as it helps them develop their English language skills and gives them a chance to learn about different cultures.

Amongst much cheer and celebration, the centres were inaugurated by Dr. Kiran Martin and Ms. Ruth McKibbin and Ms Amanda Clegg the team leaders of Methody and St Stephen’s team respectively. The inaugurations saw lots of dances and songs from the children and the team members. Asha feels truly grateful for having the support of such wonderful friends.
