The Big British Curry Night in Aid of Asha

October 2017

The concept is simple, invite your friends for a curry in October and ask them to make a donation to the work of Asha. If supporters from all across Great Britain take part then we could raise thousands for the slums of Delhi.

How to take part?

  • A Dinner Party – Hold a curry night in your own home. You can cook the food yourself, using the wonderful recipes supplied by Asha staff, or even get a local Indian takeaway. This is such a simple, yet effective way to raise funds.

We had 12 people round for a buffet, and I used the recipes supplied by Asha on www.dinner4good.com which were absolutely delicious! Everyone had a great time, learnt a bit about Asha, and we raised lots of money – even from people who couldn’t come! – Mark, Bath

  • The local Indian Restaurant – Many Indian restaurants are happy for you to hold a fundraising night in their premises and the great part is they do the cooking! Most restaurants will set a reasonable price for a buffet so that you can then add a donation to the ticket price.

We had a great evening. We persuaded our local friendly Bangladeshi restaurant owner to do us a meal for £7.00 per head and, with his full prior agreement, we charged £15.00 a head. We were happy as we made a good amount of money out of 70 odd guests and he was delighted to have a full restaurant! – Phil, Sidcup

Raising Vital Funds

This year we hope to raise £5000 to buy 5 new computers for Asha slum centres and fund specialist Business English language training for at least 20 University students.  IT and English language skills are of vital importance as they will greatly help with employment and further education. With your help we can make these opportunities a reality.

We held a Big British Curry Night at our church. About 120 people came and curries were prepared by lots of people in about 20 slow cookers.  Everyone enjoyed the meal followed by a quiz and an update about Asha. People donated generously to a great cause! – Dick and Julie, Yeovil
