On June 13, 2015 Dr Kiran invited this year’s batch of Internship students for a meeting. More than 40 students were present along with Asha’s Internship Coordinators, Fe Donaghue, Louise Wilson and Anurag Paul.
Having completed the first week of their internships, the students shared interesting experiences with Dr Kiran. This being the first professional experience for many Asha students, they were extremely excited to talk about their new office, its culture, their seniors, the work, and so on.
Dr Kiran congratulated the students and encouraged them to work efficiently in their respective workplaces. She also discussed with them the various do’s and don’ts that they should remember while working, and work etiquettes.
Babita and Jubair, Asha students who are now working with organizations they had interned with last year, shared their experiences. “I was always taught [by the Asha team] to look at every situation as a learning opportunity, and this guided everything I did at my internship. I think this really helped me get a job there,” Jubair added talking about his internship that led to an employment at the Lodhi, a deluxe 7-star hotel in Delhi. Jubair also spares an hour each day after work to mentor this year’s batch of Asha interns at the hotel.
“I am full of positivity after hearing Babita and Jubair. They have proved that although we are from slums, we are all capable of achieving anything,” shared Navita, who is interning at the British High Commission.
