Asha communities celebrate Christmas
Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful supporters, Christmas was celebrated with loads of enthusiasm and zeal over the month of December, with all Asha slum communities.
This year, the major highlights of these celebrations were the distribution of blankets to some of the most needy members of the communities. These blankets were generously donated by numerous old and new Asha supporters. With their overwhelming response towards Share the Warmth Campaign, we were able to reach out to a very large number of slum dwellers bringing some respite from the harsh cold weather.
Also as a part of the celebration, a wide variety of cultural performances were organised that ranged from dance to drama and singing, for which the children had been preparing for weeks. Through the drama performances, the children raised awareness about various sensitive issues such as ‘save the girl child’, ‘consumer awareness’ and so on.
In order to acknowledge the women and children for all that they do for Asha, they were presented with gifts on behalf of the Asha team.
Here are a few glimpses from the Christmas celebrations across Asha communities…
