A team of five members led by Liz and Colin Davison from Northern Ireland, UK worked at Asha’s Jeewan Nagar centre in the month of August. They were engaged in a variety of activities from painting the resource centre to organising workshops and craft sessions with the children. The murals and scenes they painted were greatly appreciated by all and the children really enjoyed spending time with them.
The newly painted centre was inaugurated by the team amidst much cheer and joy on their last day in the slum. Overall, the contribution of the team has been invaluable and Asha is glad that all the members also had a wonderful experience with the community. Even before they arrived, the team worked very hard to organise their trip and fundraise for Asha, for which Asha cannot thank them enough.
Both Liz and Colin have been supporting Asha’s work for many years and have visited Asha many times in the past. “I first came to visit Asha in 2008 as part of the Ballymena builders’ team. I heard Dr Kiran speak about the work of Asha with such love and passion that I was drawn to become involved as a supporter of the work. Now we are here and we thank God for it.” says Liz when asked about her involvement with Asha.
