Dr Kiran is presently visiting the USA to strengthen ties with old Asha supporters and to meet with many new ones. Asha supporters welcomed Dr Kiran very warmly and were actively involved in organizing her trip including the annual ASHA Day at Napa Valley, California.
Dr Kiran visited the Vintage High School in Napa, where she addressed about 200 high school pupils. “They are a fine bunch, filled with energy and enthusiasm, and wanting to help Asha in all sorts of ways. I encouraged them to dream big, and reach their highest potential. At such a young age, they want to espouse the values of justice and compassion,” shared Dr Kiran.
Later during the day, Dr Kiran addressed a large gathering of Kiwanians at the Kiwanis Club in Napa. The club has been supporting Asha’s work for the past many years.
Dr Kiran met with Harjeet Bhangoo, the owner of Aroma Indian Cuisine, a restaurant in Napa Valley. He has been really generous to Asha, and provided catering for the Asha Fundraiser in Napa Valley, free of cost. Joining Dr Kiran for the meeting was Kailash Chaudhary, who is hosting the fundraiser and his daughter Rita, who is an active member of the organising committee of the event.
For the Fundraiser at Napa Valley, Lana Stanley and Sandy Jones have worked extremely hard. Dr Kiran appreciated their efforts and the many hours of work they had put in over a long period to plan and organise this event. They were helped in their efforts by Rita, who has also been truly phenomenal.
During her trip, Dr Kiran also addressed a gathering at St John’s Lutheran Church in Napa. She shared the message of justice and compassion for the poor. Thank you, Pastor Mike for your loving and generous spirit. We hope you and others from your church visit us someday soon!
