The Flying Start 2017

On 23rd March, Asha Society in collaboration with the High Commission of Canada kick-started ‘The Flying Start’ initiative to create internship and mentorship opportunities for Asha’s University students. The event, hosted at the Canadian High Commissioners’ residence, brought together embassies, high commissions, corporates and Asha supporters from various walks of lives under one roof.

The Hon. Deputy High Commissioner, Jess Dutton warmly welcomed all attendees with a brief note and introduced the Canadian High Commissioner, HE Nadir Patel who spoke highly of Asha’s work. To quote him, “You [students] are leaders in your own right. We are delighted to be a part of such an amazing initiative.” Dr Kiran also thanked the guests for their participation and urged them to be a part of the internship and mentorship programme. “A month’s internship can change the lives of our students,” shared Dr Kiran.

The guests also stepped forward to pen-down a wish for Asha students, and tie it to The Wishing Tree. As a token of thanks, the guests were given a handmade goodie bag along with a diya, all prepared by Asha’s Children Association members.
