Asha events at Sacramento, USA

The Friends of Asha Sacramento, USA, hosted an event in the presence of Dr Kiran, founder and director of Asha with great fervour and enthusiasm at Double Tree by Hilton on Saturday, Oct 13. The group was founded 6 years ago by the amazing Dr Nalini Prasad and supported by her husband Dr Praveen Prasad, both of whom have been living in Sacramento for the past many years. The Asha events in the past had been held at their beautiful home, with many friends in the area attending and contributing generously.

This year, their good friend Manmohan Passi, supported by his spouse Beeba took on a leadership role and formed an organizing committee. The owner of Double Tree Guneet very kindly permitted the use of the beautiful facility on a pro bono basis. The members of the organizing committee worked tirelessly for many months to help make the event a success. The guests heard about the work of Asha with great enthusiasm and joy. There was a silent auction as well as delicious Indian cuisine served as the guests mixed and mingled, made donations, and learned more about Asha.

Another event was held on 14th October where Dr Kiran addressed the wonderful children of Bal Vihar in Sacramento. The deepening of their understanding of the Indian culture and of the finest of human values through their Sunday lessons was an inspiration to witness.

We take this opportunity to thank every member of the organizing committee and to each one who attended, gave generously, and filled the halls with their energy and enthusiasm for Asha in India. We look forward to having many such events in the near future.
