“We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”―Winston Churchill.
This quote stands so apt for our wonderful supporter, Ms Suzannah Jessep, Deputy High Commissioner of New Zealand in New Delhi, who has been actively involved in Asha’s cause for many years now, especially in Asha’s Internship programme, which has opened different avenues for our students.
On February 21, 2019, Dr Kiran Martin along with the Asha team and students hosted a get-together to bid adieu to Suzannah at Kusumpur slum community. Suzannah spent some quality time with the Asha Ambassadors, where she encouraged the students to do well in their future.
Dr Kiran talked at length about the long association between the New Zealand High Commission and Asha, expressing her gratitude for the support. She spoke about how Suzannah’s intervention has helped build new relationships with many new High Commissions. These also resulted in an internship and job opportunities for many aspiring Asha students.
Suzannah said “I am happy to connect to Asha and its beautiful people. I wish you all the best for the coming months and years. One day circumstances will change for all of you for better”. She expressed happiness in being a part of Asha’s family and applauded the students for their achievements despite their challenging backgrounds. She was amazed to hear the stories of Asha students who had interned at New Zealand High Commission and are now successful in their careers.
The wonderful evening ended with the informal conversations followed by a dance to the beats of Bollywood music.
On behalf of Dr Kiran Martin and the whole Asha team, we thank Ms Suzannah Jessep for her unwavering support and commitment. We wish her the best for her future endeavours. “You will always stay close to our hearts and we hope that our relationship lasts a lifetime,” said Dr Kiran.
Asha values this wonderful relationship with Suzannah and the New Zealand High Commission. We hope that our bond grows stronger.
