Christmas Celebrations in Asha Communities
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of its supporters, Asha organised Christmas celebrations for women’s and children’s group across Delhi in December.
Children from the slums work hard each day to help their families in day to day activities. Christmas doesn’t bring a break from this work for them. The Christmas parties in Asha’s slum based resource centres were a time of real joy for the children, with songs, dance, games and refreshments enjoyed by all. The highlight of the day was the arrival of Santa who distributed gifts to each child.
Asha also took this opportunity to once again thank its Community Health Volunteers for their selfless service over the past 25 years. During an event organised at the Asha headquarter, Associate Director, Freddy Martin expressed his deepest regard for these women who have for so long been at the forefront of Asha’s healthcare set-up. He congratulated them for all that has been achieved because of their hard work as he spoke about more that still needs to be done for the slum communities. He also presented them with gifts as a token of both encouragement and gratitude.
All this has been made possible because of the kind support extended by Friends of Asha across the globe. Asha would once again like to thank each and every one of you for your love and generosity over the past 25 years and hopes that together we will continue to transform lives in the slums of Delhi.
