Christmas Celebrations at slums

Christmas Celebrations at slums

Thanks to the generosity of our wonderful supporters, Asha celebrated Christmas with its children’s groups in slum communities across Delhi with great zest this December. These annual Christmas parties are a special time when the kids, forgetting their poverty and deprivation, can freely enjoy themselves.

This year the parties, along with food and drinks, included cultural performance ranging from dance to drama and singing, for which the children had been preparing for weeks.  The children, especially the younger ones, were thrilled to meet with Santa who presented each of them with a gift.

Here are a few photos from the parties:

Throughout the year, these kids had worked extremely hard not only in their studies and home but also to adopt a new lifestyle – a life inspired by the values of love, generosity, gratitude and compassion. By imbibing these Asha values into their lives, they have surprised us with their inspiring levels of generosity and compassion despite the challenges of poverty they face.  We would like to thank each and every individual who donated towards our Christmas appeal and helped us organise these events.
