Mr Martin and Abhishek met supporters and Friends of Asha in the UK

The month of November was indeed a very fruitful month for Abhishek, an Asha Ambassador from Peeragarhi slum colony. He bagged the opportunity to represent Asha students and the work of Asha along with Mr Godfrey Martin, Associate Director of Asha to the United Kingdom.

An ardent believer of the Asha values, committed, and responsible Abhishek was warmly welcomed by the Friends of Asha Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Mr. Martin spoke about Asha’s 30 years journey of transforming lives in the slums of Delhi. Abhishek shared his transformational story and threw light on how Asha helped him shape his future. His story provided an umbrella view of how beautifully people can change for the best. He also provided a first-hand example of simple living.

During their stay, Mr. Martin and Abhishek visited various schools (UK’s Leweston School, Gryphon School and Sherborne School for Girls, Redlands Primary School and Sileby Redlands Community Primary School, Leicester and Saint Cecilia School, London) and attended many fundraiser events.

To celebrate 30 years of Asha, the supporters and friends of Asha, GB organised an event where, “Hope and Spice” an enduring piece of creative amalgamation, with stories from Asha slums was inaugurated on 10th of November at the Amba Hotel, London. Our long-term supporter Mark Baines and Dr. Richard Hogben, the National Co-ordinator of Friends of Asha (Great Britain) opened their home for the Asha evening.

Similarly, during their stay in Northern Ireland Mr. Martin and Asha Ambassador Abhishek visited various schools (Dunclug College and Wallace High School), also attended fundraiser events.

We take this opportunity to thank each supporter of Asha without whom this one month’s comfortable and successful stay would not have been possible. Mr. Martin and Abhishek are now back, while Abhishek is all geared up for his exams.
