Team of Professionals from SAP Labs visit Asha slum

On Friday 12th October, group of 11 professionals from SAP Labs (India), a Software firm specializing in enterprise software applications visited Asha. In a bid to do their bit for the community in SAP’s Month of Service (October 2012), the organization expressed interest in volunteering with Asha for a day.

As a part of the programme, the group made a donation of medicines towards Asha’s healthcare programme and organised workshops with college and schools students in two of Asha’s centres in the slums. After a brief orientation at the Asha head quarters, the team was divided into two smaller groups who went to different slum areas Anna Nagar and Mayapuri Slum colonies.

While at the slum centres, the team spent most of their time with college and high school students from slums and also interacted with the members of Asha’s children’s group. The team had come prepared on topics like resume development, facing an interview, writing emails, confidence building etc. The students found the workshops highly useful and were able to learn a lot from their experience. The kids were especially overjoyed at receiving the small gifts they had brought for each of them. At the end of the session, the team shared a meal with all the attendees and visited the homes of few college students.

Asha would like to extend a warm thanks to SAP Labs India for choosing to support Asha during their Month of Service; we hope this is only a joyous start of a long-term relationship. We also thank each and every member of the team who volunteered their time and hope to welcome them again in future.
