Leave a gift in your Will to Asha as a lasting legacy so you are there for them, always.
A wonderful way to help those most in need is to leave a legacy in your Will, so that when you pass away, many people less fortunate than you will benefit and your love will assist many to a better future.
Your legacy, however small, will make a big difference.
Asha’s work is going to be needed for many years to come, as conditions in the slums are likely to become worse, not better.
The demand for our help will not go away, unfortunately, so your legacy, however small, will make a big difference.
We need your support
At Asha we work tirelessly to support the lives of over 700,000 slum dwellers across 91 slums in Delhi, India. However, as more and more people migrate to cities, urban poverty continues to grow. With your support we want to be there in the future to help transform the cycle of poverty in which they are trapped.
Writing a Will is so much more than a financial statement. It is how we show what is important to us and how we want the world to be.
No matter how big or small your gift, by remembering the work of Asha in your will, you will leave an ongoing legacy of hope. We will use your gift to help transform the lives of thousands of individuals across Delhi slums, for generations to come.
Your legacy, however small, will make a big difference.
Andrew and Sheila Rowe were both committed supporters of Asha and the primary force in setting up Friends of Asha (GB).
However, even now, Andrew and Sheila are having an impact on the slums of Delhi. We received a gift of £2500 from the estate of Andrew Rowe and Sheila generously left a legacy of £10,000 to Asha ensuring their part in the future of our work.
How to leave a gift in your Will
Leaving a legacy is simple and a lawyer or Will-writer can help you. It can even reduce the amount of Inheritance Tax charged on your estate.
You can leave a legacy in a number of ways:
A specific sum of money: if you want to leave a chosen sum to Asha, you specify this amount in your Will.
A share of your estate: once you’ve worked out what you’re leaving to family and friends, you can donate a share of what’s left.
A specific item: jewellery, antiques, houses or any item that you think will be of some value to Asha’s work when sold.
A ‘reversionary’ gift: which means leaving the legacy to a person for their lifetime, after which it ‘reverts’ to your chosen charity.
Already have a Will?
If you already have a Will and want to leave a legacy to Asha, all you have to do is make a codicil, which means ‘amendment’. This is very simple process which your lawyer or Will-writer can easily help you with.
‘When I am gone – my legacy to Asha will be continuing to change lives. Whatever I leave will be of benefit to people who have never had the blessings and privileges I have known. It is reassuring to know that the charities and causes that have been a passion for me in life will benefit even more when I move on.’
