A Meaningful Evening in Melbourne for Asha’s Newest Communities

A meaningful evening in Melbourne brought together friends and supporters of Asha for a fundraising event organised by the Australian Friends of Asha Board, led by Chairman Robert Johanson.

The event focused on the urgent needs of the three new slum communities where Asha has recently begun working. These communities require safe spaces for centres, access to education for children engaged in scavenging, comprehensive healthcare, and sustained community support.

Held at the beautiful Cumulus venue in Melbourne city centre, the gathering welcomed long-time supporters as well as many new friends of Asha, all united by a shared commitment to creating opportunities for underserved communities.

Nancy, who has recently begun studying at the University of Melbourne, shared her inspiring journey with the audience. Tushar and Chandan, both pursuing their PhDs at the University of Melbourne, were also present.

It was an honour to welcome Mr S Rajan, Consul General of India in Melbourne, who showed deep interest in Asha’s work and the lives of the communities we serve.

The evening brought together university academics, business professionals, NGO representatives, Friends of Asha Board members, and many compassionate individuals who continue to stand beside Asha’s mission.

We extend our heartfelt thanks to Robert, Richard, and everyone who worked tirelessly to make the event such a success.
