Coming to the middle of the year 2018, we would like to thank you for your generosity and continued support. With your help, we managed to touch the lives of more than seven hundred thousand people in 91 slums across Delhi.
We are also pleased to share with you our Higher Education Programme – Donation Request with all our supporters and well-wishers. This year as Asha marked its splendid 30 years, we came across several transformational stories. We now look forward to spreading this message of hope to every slum in Delhi within a span of five years.
It gives us immense pleasure to share with you all that 500 Asha students who had appeared for class 12th examination this year, nearly 172 have scored 70% and above. These young champions untiring perseverance and relentless energy have overpowered the unfavourable conditions of slum life. This year’s Asha’s High School batch is stepping into the university. Without your support, this would have been impossible to achieve.
In our Higher Education Donation Request 2018, you will read about Gulafsha, a vivacious Asha ambassador from Chanderpuri slum community and Shama [Batch 2018], the aspiring bright student from Seelampur slum community. This appeal shall provide an insight on their journey defying all odds to realize their dreams. With the support from Asha, Gulafsha completed her bachelor’s from one of the prestigious colleges of Delhi University and is now interning with the Greece embassy. Shama, scored 84.5 % in the high school examination and now looks forward to a prolific university life.
