Asha: Sharing knowledge and handing opportunities to others

Asha: Sharing knowledge and handing opportunities to others

Sharing your knowledge with others is the best way to promote education.

Keeping the same in mind, Asha team always strives hard to share its learning with as many people possible as the lack of opportunities and guidance makes it difficult for slum children to make it to college and further.

Asha’s Tigri slum community organized a visit to a nearby school on November 24. Not only the Team leader, Asha Ambassadors and college students but the whole Tigri community cleared the deck and helped arrange the visit. Anju, who is an Asha Ambassador, led the team and walked down to the Principal’s office. The Principal cordially greeted all and expressed the happiness after knowing that Anju, who is an Asha ambassador and a former student of this very school, is now associated with Asha to support their noble cause.

Interacting with the teachers and senior staff of the school made the Asha team receive abundant appreciations for their initiatives to uplift the slum communities in Delhi. A large group of students gathered around the assembly ground and the Tigri team briefed them about Asha’s initiatives. Explaining how the Asha students are encouraged to work with Multinational Companies, Embassies and renowned firms, the school students got surprised. The on-looking teachers couldn’t resist but heartily congratulate the efforts and courage of the Asha slum dwellers as well as the team. Breathing in a flimsy shanty, sleeping without ample possessions, consuming a substandard meal oftentimes, living a life of destitute and still managing to shape their career is a BIG DEAL.

The school students were amazed by seeing the live examples since they all showed such great courage and determination. The progressive interaction grew to be motivating and concluded with lots of aspirations as the day came to an end.
