On Tuesday 28th January 2014, India’s Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Hon Mr Kapil Sibal met with first year college students from Asha communities. The students were accompanied by Asha’s Founder and Director, Dr Kiran Martin. It was the first opportunity for the students to meet a public figure of such a stature in his office and they were thrilled beyond words for this opportunity. Mr Sibal spent a lot of time asking the students about their first year in college and was happy to note the progress they have made.
Mr Sibal has been a strong supporter of the Asha Higher Education Programme since its inception in 2008 and has always encouraged the work of Asha in the slums of Delhi. Asha is truly grateful for the support he has always extended to its various programmes and looks forward to many more years of association with the Hon’ble Minister.
