Independence Day Celebration at Asha Slum Communities

Asha slum communities celebrated Independence Day with sheer enthusiasm and pride. Asha students and team members looked pretty in ethnic Indian clothes, representing the colours of our national flag.

Asha’s Children’s Association and college students in each slum community decorated their respective centres in lieu of the Independence Day celebration. Keeping in view the Government’s ‘Swachch Bharat Campaign,’ cleanliness was an integral part of the celebrations.

Many centres invited MLAs, Councillors, SHOs and local leaders as their chief guests and hoisted the Indian National flag. Citing the importance of the history of Indian independence, the Children’s Association enthusiastically participated in singing the National Anthem, and enacting plays, while others honoured the guests with handmade gifts.
