Seema delivered a baby boy with Asha’s timely Medical Care.

27-year-old Seema is married and resides in a one-room shanty in Kalkaji Slum. She got married in 2012 at the age of 18. Her husband Ranjan works in a garment factory and earns INR 12000 per month (£ 152/ $ 168/ AUD 250). The couple’s first baby, now nine years old, is born under Asha’s supervision and guidance. The complete Immunisation of the child was done in the Asha centre.

Last year, as she became pregnant for the second time, she suffered from typhoid, weakening her health. Asha Health team took care of her pregnancy and educated her family to ensure timely hospitalisation to avoid further complications since she also suffered from high blood pressure and had low haemoglobin 8.7. Seema gave birth to a baby boy at seven months with a low birth weight of 800gm. The newborn was incubated for three months, after which the baby gained 1.5kg weight.

Soon after the discharge, the mother and baby were enrolled under Asha’s maternal and child health care programme, where the Asha health team took care of their nutritional needs to improve their health status through timely post-natal care. Now the child is one year five months old and weighs 7 kg. Seema and her family are so happy and are grateful to the Asha health team for their care and support to ensure the timely growth of her child.
