TEAR Fund New Zealand at Asha
It was wonderful to welcome a team from TEAR Fund New Zealand during the last one week. One of our major donors, TEAR Fund is funding our projects at two slum colonies in East Delhi. On a trip to monitor the progress of the project, they also took time out to visit other slum colonies that Asha is working in to compare the growth.
The community thoroughly enjoyed meeting the TEAR Fund team and enthusiastically shared the stories of transformation that TEAR Fund’s support has brought about. It was also a great opportunity for the community to actually meet with and express their gratitude to the people funding the development in their communities.
Here are a few glimpses of their visit:
The team visited Seelampur slum colony and interacted with the Mahila Mandal. They also visited many beneficiaries in their homes in order to witness their challenges first-hand.

The team also visited Akhlaq, a student from Chanderpuri slum colony, who interned at the New Zealand High Commission in 2013. Thanks to that opportunity, Akhalq is now working as an Assistant Manager at McDonalds. In true Indian tradition, Akhlaq’s mother prepared a sumptuous lunch to welcome the guests who were completely overwhelmed by such hospitality.
DrKiran was delighted to have the opportunity to invite the team over for a dinner at her residence.
The TEAR Fund team was invited by New Zealand High Commissioner, HE Grahame Morton at his residence. A huge thank you to Mr Morton and the high commission for extending their warm hospitality to our guests.
A Big Asha thank you for being here, TEAR Fund. It was amazing to have you with us!
