The Big British Curry Night October 2016
The concept is simple, invite your friends for a curry in October and ask them to make a donation to the work of Asha. If supporters from all across Great Britain take part then we could raise thousands for the slums of Delhi.
How to Take Part?
A Dinner Party – Hold a curry night in your own home. You can cook the food yourself, using the wonderful recipes supplied by Asha staff, or even get a local Indian takeaway. This is such a simple, yet effective way to raise funds.
The local Indian Restaurant – Many Indian restaurants are happy for you to hold a fundraising night in their premises and the great part is they do the cooking! Most restaurants will set a reasonable price for a buffet so that you can then add a donation to the ticket price.
Raising Vital Funds
This year we want the Big British Curry Night to help provide the gift of health by fundraising towards Asha’s vital program of vaccinations and medicines.
New life is precious, and yet so vulnerable when born into a slum. However, Asha’s successful Maternal and Child health programme means that babies and young children in Asha slums are now, on average, healthier than children across the whole of Delhi. Every week, hundreds of children visit our Baby Clinics to receive immunisation and supplements to prevent diseases that would have once killed.
With your help, we are hoping to raise at least £5000 towards these lifesaving medicines.
Here is an idea of what your curry night could enable;
- £70 raised will vaccinate 21 children against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis
- £140 raised will provide 2-3 ORS sachets and 1 litre of water per child for 750 children to prevent dehydration during diarrhoea
- £300 raised will provide Iron supplement syrup (300 ml) to 225 women and children suffering from Anaemia and malnourishment in one month.
Please join in and help make this opportunity a reality!
Let us know you want to take part and we will send you an event pack. The pack has been put together to help make your curry night a great success. It includes;
- Favourite recipes direct from the Asha team
- An ice breaker mini quiz and fact sheet
- Thank you cards for your guests
