On a heartwarming day at the Dr. Ambedkar slum community, Robert Johanson, Chairman of Australian Friends of Asha (AFOA), was welcomed with open arms during his visit.
The day began with a warm and cheerful reception as Asha’s university students gathered to share their personal journeys with Robert. Each story reflected the determination, and strength it takes to overcome the challenges faced while growing up in Delhi’s slums. The students spoke about the obstacles they encountered in pursuing the university entrance exams and how Asha’s relentless support, from financial aid to mentoring and counselling, became the key to unlocking their potential.
Their heartfelt stories were followed by a symbolic gesture of gratitude, where the university students and the Asha team tied threads of thanks around Robert’s wrist, expressing their deep appreciation for his unwavering support over the years.
The day’s program continued with the much-cherished “Love and Lunch” initiative, where Robert met with elderly members of the community.
