Asha bids farewell to Liz Peak

Asha bids farewell to Liz Peak

On 23rd August, 2014, Asha hosted a farewell lunch to pay tribute to the marvellous contribution made by Ms Liz Peak to the work of Asha. Liz was instrumental in the inception of Asha Internship and Mentorship Programmes and has been spearheading the same since 2012.

Asha’s vision of making graduates from the slums ready for the job market was brought to life by her consistent efforts, resulting in job placements for many of the students in various multinational companies in and around Delhi.

Also attending the event were Australian High Commissioner, HE Mr Patrick Suckling and representatives from organisations involved with the Internship Programme. Mr Suckling, acknowledged the significant contributions made by Liz and called her “the driving force” behind great change in the life of Asha students.

Many of the Asha students talked about their internship experience and their association with Liz. Dr Kiran Martin spoke about the initial days of Liz with Asha and the tremendous amount of efforts and hard labour put by Liz for successful implementation of the Asha Internship and Mentorship Programmes.

The event was also an opportunity for us to introduce Ms Fe, Ms Louise, Ms Caitlin and Ms Kate from the diplomatic community who would work on the further expansion and strengthening of these programmes.
