On 5th February 2014, Acting High Commissioner, New Zealand, HE Michael Appleton visited Asha’s community centre in Jeevan Nagar slum colony. Mr Appleton’s visit was particularly focused on getting a firsthand experience of the life of people living in the slums of Delhi and to know more about the work of Asha.

He had an interactive exchange with Dr Kiran and members of the Asha community in Jeevan Nagar slum colony and was pleased to hear the stories of transformation that has taken place in their lives. “I was really happy to hear you talk about the role you are playing in your communities, it’s not just about you but your success becomes contagious”, he said while addressing the university students.

It’s really been inspiring to see all the work that you are doing in your community to help not only yourselves but also the new generations in your community”, he said after interacting with the women’s group.
