Diwali celebration at the Australian Club by Australian Friends of ASHA

The Australian Friends of ASHA held a Diwali celebration at the Australian Club, melbourne on Friday Octber 25th.

The event was attended by 120 guests and friends of ASHA and the catering was provided by Celebrity Chef Mr Adam D’Sylva who has two iconic restaurants in Melbourne, Tonka (Indian inspired) and Coda. The Convenor of the evening was Mr. Harish Rao, member of the Australian Club and Board member of Australian Friends of ASHA.

During the night there was an auction of 3 items which were all sold. The first item was accommodation in the regional centre of Geelong for 4 nights with a gift voucher for $400 at a well known local restaurant that sold for $1500. The second prize was dinner for 10 people at home with Adam D’Sylva where Adam will come with food and staff and cook for guests. This attracted strong bidding and sold for $12,000. The final item was 2 return economy tickets to Delhi and 5 nights at iconic Taj hotels in India which sold for $7,500. There were also further donations on the night and sale of ASHA UK cookbooks and to the total amount raised was close to A$25,000, an outstanding result.
