Dr David Armstrong visit to Kusumpur Pahari

Dr David Armstrong, Partner at the PwC United Kingdom, toured the Asha slum – Kusumpur Pahari, a place severely struck by water-crisis. David is a long-time supporter of Asha, a down to earth personality and follows the mantra “be humble and believe in yourself.” He not only organises fundraiser musical events annually for the cause of Asha, but it is through his intervention the PWC partnership grew many folds.

As David approached the Asha centre, the community swarmed around to greet him with the garlands that left him overwhelmed. David introduced himself to the students and women present. On interaction with the college students and the Mahila Mandal, David showed a photograph of his family who visited Asha two years back and had a wonderful time in the Seelampur slum community.

Asha students exchanged their experiences in their respective internships. They also spoke about how mentorship and internship programmes have helped them realize their goals in life. David met Sushil and Ajay, now employees at PwC, from the Kusumpur Pahari slum community. In between the interaction with the students, David narrated how he quit his job as an academic to relish his dream job at PwC, which he joined in the year 1998.

He shared with the students, “You should believe in yourself, remain humble. When you face a crisis or receive disappointments, do not lose hope and keep your targets straight and be focused.”

On his way back, he visited a few student’s shanties, which were near the centre. David had to crouch at times to avoid short-heightened ledges at the entrance. He was very pleased to be among the young energetic students and wished them all success in life.

Thank you for spending your precious time with us. We look forward to seeing you again.
