It was an amazing day when Dr Kiran opened her house for her birthday celebration on June 9 in spite of the heatwave sweeping the capital city-Delhi. This year, Dr Kiran requested her loved ones not to bring gifts, rather donate in order to help the Asha slum children pursue Higher Education.
All the Asha family members including Asha students, Graduates, Ambassadors, Mahila Mandal (Women’s Association) members, Bal Mandal (Children’s Association) members and staff from across the Asha slums joined hands to donate. Practising the Asha values, they all contributed whatever amount they could in order to lend a hand for slum children seeking a bright future ahead. The donations received, crossed USD 1500.
What made her day so special were messages she received from the Asha family. Some of those are:
