Asha hosts HRH The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex on the eve of 30th anniversary

We were honoured to host His Royal Highness, The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex KG GCVO, The British High Commissioner to India, The Honourable Sir Dominic Asquith KCMG and his wife Lady Louise Asquith at our Jeevan Nagar centre.

Dr Kiran Martin welcomes His Royal Highness to the Asha centre in Jeevan Nagar.

His Royal Highness who visited the centre to celebrate the inspirational acts of volunteering, and the British High Commissioner were welcomed by Dr Kiran Martin and Dr David Finch, Chairman of Friends of Asha, Great Britain with traditional Indian garland, followed by a cultural performance from the young students of Asha.

His Royal Highness and The British High Commissioner Hon. Sir Dominic Asquith KCMG were welcomed by Dr Kiran with traditional Indian garland.

Six wonderful Asha students and graduates had the opportunity to meet the visitors. His Royal Highness also met a group of interns and mentees, as well as young children working on an art project themed, “What I want to be when I grow up”, which encourages them to focus on their future endeavours.

His Royal Highness was delighted to learn about Asha’s work particularly its health initiatives and the Women Association’s work in the local slum. He complimented them by saying, “I think you will be a wonderful group for the scheme- Points of Light as you are already doing a lot for your community and others”.

His Royal Highness was impressed meeting Asha’s Women Association and appreciated them for their work in the community.

The Asha children, holding placards that read “Points of light”, were excited to be photographed, with His Royal Highness. Points of Light are outstanding individual volunteers – people who are making a change in their community.
