We were honoured to host His Royal Highness, The Prince Edward, Earl of Wessex KG GCVO, The British High Commissioner to India, The Honourable Sir Dominic Asquith KCMG and his wife Lady Louise Asquith at our Jeevan Nagar centre.

His Royal Highness who visited the centre to celebrate the inspirational acts of volunteering, and the British High Commissioner were welcomed by Dr Kiran Martin and Dr David Finch, Chairman of Friends of Asha, Great Britain with traditional Indian garland, followed by a cultural performance from the young students of Asha.

Six wonderful Asha students and graduates had the opportunity to meet the visitors. His Royal Highness also met a group of interns and mentees, as well as young children working on an art project themed, “What I want to be when I grow up”, which encourages them to focus on their future endeavours.

His Royal Highness was delighted to learn about Asha’s work particularly its health initiatives and the Women Association’s work in the local slum. He complimented them by saying, “I think you will be a wonderful group for the scheme- Points of Light as you are already doing a lot for your community and others”.

The Asha children, holding placards that read “Points of light”, were excited to be photographed, with His Royal Highness. Points of Light are outstanding individual volunteers – people who are making a change in their community.
From the whole Asha team, we send our heartfelt gratitude to His Royal Highness, The Prince Edward, The British High Commissioner, Sir Asquith and his wife, Lady Asquith for visiting us.
