Interns from Lady Irwin College, Delhi University at Asha
We were pleased to have 31 girls interning for us for over a month from Lady Irwin College who are pursuing their Bachelors in Education. Having a specialized background of teaching, these girls got the opportunity to work with children of various age groups as well as slum communities. Their infectious energy and enthusiasm made the entire teaching-learning process a wonderful one.
Each one of the interns spent over 100 hours at their respective Asha centres and conducted various activities. From teaching English to Children’s Association members and helping them with their studies, the interns went out of their way to bond with the community and create awareness about various topics of the community’s interest. They enthusiastically celebrated Father’s Day and Environment Day by decorating all the centres beautifully, and involved the children in art and craft activities as well.
When asked about their overall experience with the children, one of the intern shared, “It was a wonderful experience and I enjoyed every bit of it. I never knew that the Asha kids would be so bright and humble despite facing all odds. They are an excellent bunch of kids who just need good guidance and opportunities.”
Some of the interns even went a step further from regular internship and took the kids out for a picnic or treating them with chocolates and snacks. Small generosities like these definitely have a deep impact on the lives of Asha children. The interns did a stupendous job and we were extremely happy to have them.
Thank you girls! We hope to see you again!
