On 29th October 2014, the Irish Ambassador HE Feilim McLaughlin hosted a dinner reception for the volunteer teams from Wallace High School from Lisburn and Rainey Endowed School from Magherafelt. Hosted at the Ambassador’s residence in the heart of South Delhi, the event was organised to thank and encourage the work that teams were doing with Asha.
Addressing the gathering, HE McLaughlin commended the students on their hard work and shared his own reflections about Asha and India. “We were immensely honoured to be a part of the Asha Internship Programme. It is so good to have these young people working so hard with us each year. All their stories and achievements never cease to inspire us,” he said while talking about the internship programme.
Also speaking at the event were, Ms Pearl Donnelly, Teacher, Rainey Endowed School; Ms Deborah O’Hare, Principal, Wallace High School and Asha’s Founder and Director, Dr Kiran Martin. In her address, Deborah highlighted the values of the Wallace High School and remarked how they were in complete allegiance with the values that form the core of Asha’s work. Students from Rainey Endowed School also presented the Ambassador with a copy of the schools tercentenary yearbook.
Asha was delighted to see its volunteers being honoured and their efforts acknowledged by the Ambassador.
