New Zealand High Commissioner Visits Asha
The new High Commissioner for the High Commission of New Zealand, HE Ms Jan Henderson recently paid a visit to Asha. Accompanied by her husband and daughter, Ms Henderson met with community members in Dr Ambedkar slum colony.
She spoke with members of the women’s association on the great improvements they have seen in their slum in the past two decades since Asha began working there. She particularly enjoyed meeting some of Asha’s college students and hearing about their experiences in overcoming the obstacles of poverty to achieve higher education.
Speaking to members of the children’s association, Ms Henderson paid tribute to the long relationship that the New Zealand High Commission has had with Asha and said that she was very committed to seeing the partnerships continue. To the children she said, ‘You carry the future of the world in your hands. I wish you the best of luck.’
Asha is so grateful to have been able to welcome Ms Henderson and her family and looks forward to working with her and the New Zealand High Commission for many years to come.
