Pre-Internship Workshop-Preparing the New Students
With the University students gearing up to keep themselves busy this summer, we were glad to conduct a Pre-Internship Workshop at Asha headquarters on May 28, 2016 with prospective university students joining in.
Internship Coordinator, Louise Wilson kicked-off the session with a warm welcome to all the students before briefing them about the workshop, preparing the students before they take their first step into the professional world. Around 60 students were selected to participate in the workshop where they were thoroughly guided about the do’s and don’ts of the professional world like how to behave in the office, how to prepare for the first day, what dress-code one should follow, researching about the respective company where a student will intern and how they can make the most of this opportunity.
Asha Student Ambassadors Deepak from Mayapuri slum colony and Ajay from Kusumpur Pahari slum colony also shared their experiences of previously interning at the Australian High Commission, Macquarie Global Services and Rio Tinto respectively. They also enacted a role play to describe basic etiquette and manners that a student should follow while interning.
Over 60 students have been selected on the basis of their academic and extra-curricular scores, their aptitude and attitude, English speaking, computer skills and leadership quality. On June 3, 2016 the formal launch for this year’s Asha Internship Programme will take place at the Australian High Commission in New Delhi.
