Asha’s Children’s Association and university students at the slums celebrated Mother’s Day with lots of love and gratitude. They organised cultural programmes, small group interactions, pot luck lunches, and movie screening based on the theme ‘Mother’s Day’, so as to give the mother’s a break from their routine life. While some children came forward to recite poems, sing songs and dance to show their love for their mothers, others expressed their feelings in the form of handwritten letters, handmade cards and gifts.

Also, the Asha Student Ambassadors decided to celebrate this day with Dr Kiran and express their love for her. They recalled how Dr Kiran reached out to them many years ago and helped them overcome various challenges. Later everyone had lunch together and Dr Kiran motivated the students to do something special for their mothers, not just on this day, but always!

For many of the children and mothers it was the first ever experience of celebrating this day. It was beautiful to note that everyone present at the celebrations was tearful and speechless.
Here are a few glimpses from the day…
